Fundraising
Point Lookout Surf Life Saving Club Inc is a non-profit organisation, and we rely heavily on fundraising, government assistance and donations from the public and corporate sector to ensure that we continue to maintain and improve our Life Saving Services.
As we are one of the only Surf Lifesaving Clubs in Australia patrolling two beaches on North Stradbroke Island, we require extensive gear and equipment to provide a high-quality service to the bathing public.
Last season we performed a total of 31 rescues, 20,138 preventative actions and 598 first aid cases alone.
We do not rely on the income provided by bistros and poker machines (neither of these are at our club), therefore fundraising activities such as raffles, collection days etc are needed to raise much needed funds.
The funds enable us to continue providing members with the most up to date training and rescue equipment, as well as cover the ongoing costs associated with the maintenance of our Clubhouse and facilities.
While most fundraising events require some participation from members, they can also be a fun way to interact with mates, young and old.
Monies raised are used to pay for the purchase and maintenance of rescue gear and club facilities. Members only pay for their membership and meal costs if they are staying at the clubhouse for the weekend.
All members are required to help out in the essential area of fundraising.
